About Us
Laura Antonson, Principal Landscape Architect
I am licensed in the states of Oregon and Washington as a landscape architect with over two decades of experience. I have worked on projects in Oregon, Washington, California, Colorado, and Arizona as well as international work in the United Arab Emirates.
My strengths and interest are in community spaces such as parks and open space, Western native plants, low impact development and sustainable design practices, design for children, and wetland mitigation.
I discovered my passion for landscape architecture and design in high school, finding it a perfect way to blend my artistic and creative side with my love of building, problem solving and the outdoors. I took my first landscape design job in Palm Desert, California, where I lasted about a year before realizing I belonged back in the Willamette Valley where we enjoy complaining about the rain. I took a job at an engineering and architecture firm in the Portland area where I gained tremendous experience in my field… and happened to meet my future husband!
Since striking out on my own in 2009, I’ve kept myself busy running my business and having a family. I originally started my business under LCA Designs and then chose to do consulting for several years when my boys were very little. Laurus Designs has slowly grown from that consulting work into a full time business that never ceases to amaze me with some of the projects I’ve been privileged enough to work on.
When my job is not keeping me on my toes, our two boys and menagerie of pets certainly are! We enjoy our time together, going for walks, riding bikes, reading, traveling, and of course, building with Legos.

Kaitlin North, Associate Landscape Architect
I was introduced to the profession of landscape architecture when I was in high school after taking a landscape design course at the local community college during my senior year. It was immediately clear that I had found a career path that would integrate design and my love of the outdoors. After graduation in 2006, I accepted my first job at an engineering and architecture firm in the Portland area where I worked for over a decade on a wide range of project types and learned from many wonderful people, including Laura Antonson.
Fast forward to today, I am thrilled to work with Laura again designing spaces for the varied mix of projects and clients at Laurus Designs.
In my free time, I also enjoy traveling and exploring landscapes with my husband and son, either in our camper van or on a bicycle, and many summer evenings you can find me in the backyard likely pulling weeds or picking vegetables and dreaming about ways to re-design my own outdoor spaces.
